High-performance,High index Refraction Type III Airport glass beads
TTB-1325C Type III Airport glass beads
Airport Quality glass beads that meets TTB-1325C Type III. Large diameter, high reflective index, where top notch retroreflectivity above 1.9 is required. Specified for use on Airport Runway marking paints and specialized signs. Made from high density Barium Titanate glass, they are very clear, lead free and have excellent Durability, High refractive index, high retro reflectivity. Meets Federal specification TTB 1325C.
TTB-1325C Type I (Gradation A) 1.5 Index glass beads for drop-on applications. The sizing and quality is similar to typical traffic safety and highway markings. TTB-1325C Type III 1.9 Index glass beads for drop-on applications produces a narrow cone of light due to higher refractive index. Because of their relatively high costs, typically limited to marking airport runways only.

FAQ
1.What does index of refraction mean?
Index of refraction (IOR) is the measurement of the optical properties of glass beads. It determines the focal point where the light is refracted, or most focused inside the glass bead. The most optimal index or refraction is 1.93. This index places the focal point exactly on the rear of the glass beads for the most focused return of light to it’s source.
2.What glass beads have the highest IOR?
Type III (1.9 IOR) glass beads offer the highest level of retro-reflectivity by utilizing high index bead technology resulting in the maximum return of light. No other glass bead duplicates the retro-reflectivity of 1.9 glass beads.
3.Why are Type III glass beads better for airfield markings than Type I glass beads?
Type III glass beads have a higher index of refraction (1.9 IOR) compared to Type I glass beads with an IOR of (1.5). Type I beads are generally used for highway markings. Type III glass beads provide superior optical properties that produce the brightest, and the safest, airfield markings.
4.How does the US Government rate airfield glass beads?
Federal Specification Airfield Glass Beads- TTB-1325C Gradation A Type III Hi-Index is specified by the United States Government to offer the best possible retro-reflectivity for both the military forces and general aviation. Type III glass beads are recommended by ICAO and the FAA for enhanced runway and taxiway markings.
5.Do airport runway lighting systems provide enough light for pilots to safely navigate?
Compared to lighting systems, pavement markings that utilize Type III glass beads offer significantly greater target value for pilots. Therefore, the need for “bright” pavement markings, especially when a plane is landing, is essential to complementing the lighting systems and improving the overall safety of an airfield.
6.Why do pilots prefer airfield markings that utilize Type III glass beads?
Pilots realize that not only is it important to check and file flight plans, work closely with air traffic control personnel, check the weather and flight conditions, it’s also imperative that airfield markings are as visible as possible during takeoff, landing, and taxiing. Pilots know that high standards of uniformity and excessive visibility in airport markings enhances safety and improves efficiency. Those standards will be easily surpassed by using DAIXI Type III Airport Glass Beads.
7.How are the glass beads packed and shipped?
Dragon glass beads are shipped in lots as specified by the purchaser and packaged in moisture-proof containers. Containers shall be in accordance with the supplier's normal commercial practice, provided that there will be no interaction chemically or physically with the contents so as to damage the containers or alter the strength, quality, or purity of the contents. Containers are to be guaranteed to furnish dry and undamaged beads. The container shall be securely closed to prevent accidental opening or loss of the glass beads, and sufficiently strong to prevent accidental rupture during multiple shipments, handling and storage. The shipping containers comply with National Motor Freight Classification or Uniform Freight Classification requirements.
