Petroleum benzene is a colorless, transparent, volatile, non-polar liquid, with high refraction and strong awn aroma, flammable and poisonous. The density is 0.879, the molecular formula is C6H6, the molecular weight is 78.11, the freezing point is greater than or equal to 5.40°C, and the boiling point is 80.1°C. It is soluble in ethanol, ether, acetone, carbon tetrachloride, carbon disulfide and many other organic solvents, but insoluble in water. When it burns, it emits a bright and smoky flame.
