Deciduous tree, up to 15 meters high, the tree shape is nearly round, the bark is gray-brown, the branches are rounded, the lenticels are prominent, and there is no top bud. Odd-pinnate compound leaves alternate, 7-15 small leaves, ovoid or elliptic ovoid. The leaf margins are thick and serrated, and there is often a deep-cracked layer near the base. The leaf surface is dark green and smooth. The flowers are yellow, with terminal cones. The inflorescence blooms from June to July, and the fruit matures from September to October. The pericarp membrane is enlarged, triangular oval shaped like a lantern, orange-red or red-brown when mature, and the seeds are round and black.
