The vast majority of cling film and commonly used plastic bags sold on the market are made of ethylene masterbatch. According to the different types of ethylene masterbatch, cling film can be divided into three categories.
The first type is polyethylene, or PE for short. This material is mainly used for food packaging. The film we usually buy for fruits and vegetables, including semi-finished products purchased from supermarkets, uses this material;
The second is polyvinyl chloride, or PVC for short. This material can also be used for food packaging, but it has a certain impact on the safety of the human body;
The third type is polyvinylidene chloride, or PVDC for short, which is mainly used for packaging some cooked food, ham and other products.
Among these three plastic wraps, the plastic wraps of PE and PVDC are safe for human body and can be used with confidence, while the PVC plastic wrap contains carcinogens, which is more harmful to human body. PE cling film should be used.
Different specifications of plastic wrap
From a physical point of view, the plastic wrap has a moderate oxygen permeability and moisture permeability, adjusts the oxygen and moisture content around the fresh-keeping product, blocks dust, and thereby extends the shelf life of the food. Therefore, it is necessary to choose different plastic wraps for different foods.
The cling film on the market is roughly divided into two categories, one is the ordinary cling film, which is suitable for refrigerator preservation; the other is the microwave cling film, which can be used for both the refrigerator preservation and the microwave oven. The latter cling film is far superior to ordinary cling film in heat resistance and non-toxicity. Therefore, consumers should pay special attention to the choice of use and use it separately.
