 [According to Shanghai Securities News] The 125th China import and Export Fair (hereinafter referred to as the "Canton Fair") ended on May 5. The Canton Fair was divided into three phases. There were 25,500 exhibitors and more than 190,000 buyers from 213 countries came to negotiate. The final total export transaction was 19,524 billion yuan, equivalent to 29.73 billion US dollars, which was 1.1% lower than the 2018 Spring Fair.
   While export transactions at the Canton Fair have entered a stable period, quality characteristics have begun to emerge. The data shows that the turnover of 20% of the brand booths reached 28.8% of the total turnover, the cumulative export turnover of mechanical and electrical products reached 16 billion US dollars, and new buyers accounted for 42.15% of the total number of purchasing merchants. As a "barometer" of foreign trade, the new features of the Canton Fair show that my country's exports are moving from "winning by price" to "winning by quality."
  Data shows that the textile and apparel trade in the Canton Fair in this period is US$1.62 billion, accounting for 5.4% of the total turnover, an increase of US$200 million compared to the same period last year. Among them, companies that reduce costs through multiple channels, strengthen R&D and design, and have their own brands show advantages.
   Hongdou Group is an example. The group has launched a series of recycled fiber fabrics through research and development, adding fabrics and clothes with functions such as cooling, anti-wrinkle, and waterproof, which have been recognized by international brands such as ZARA, and have gained a lot at the Canton Fair. The person in charge of the Foreign Economic Planning Division of the Ministry of Foreign Economic Relations, a subsidiary of the group, told the Shanghai Securities News: "At present, we have a mature outsourcing factory in Cambodia, with an annual output of 700,000 sets of children's suits exported to the UK."
   Zhaoyuan Luwa, an infant clothing company from Shandong, has registered the "FLYBYFLY" trademark. After 10 years of hard work, it has opened exclusive stores in Norway, the United Kingdom, etc., and achieved 100% export of its own brands.
  In the past, light industrial products such as clothing, luggage, food, etc. had low technical content and were known for their price advantages. Now these light industrial products have also added technological elements and have more functional features. In order to meet the current consumer demand, a luggage manufacturer in Guangzhou has developed and produced luggage with USB charging interface and solar charging, and registered a patent, which is also very popular at the Canton Fair.
   Xu Bing, deputy secretary-general of the Canton Fair and deputy director of the China Foreign Trade Center, said that under a more complex and severe foreign trade environment, the majority of exhibitors have made positive progress in high-quality development, and new international competitive advantages are accelerating the formation.
