Carpets in China have a long history

 Clothes are knitted goods laid on the ground. Carpets in China have a long history. As early as 2000 years ago, Xinjiang in Western China produced carpets and could weave various patterns. Later, the technology of carpet weaving was introduced into the Central Plains, and its application became more and more extensive. Bai Juyi, a great poet of the Tang Dynasty, has a famous phrase in his poem The Red Line Blanket that "the cold people should be warm and the clothes should be scarcely taken for lichens". According to documents, from Tang and Song Dynasties to Ming and Qing Dynasties, there were more and more kinds of carpets. The carpets were often made of cotton, wool, hemp and paper rope. The knitted carpet produced in China uses high strength yarn strand rope as warp and ground weft yarn. On the warp yarn, color wool weft yarn is inserted into the warp yarn according to the pattern to form wool, which is then knitted by shearing and brushing. Its front is densely covered with towering plush, with solid texture and good elasticity. Especially the carpets produced in Hetian area of Xinjiang are more precious and have the reputation of "oriental carpet". The carpets produced there are not only of good quality, but also of great output. It is also exported to more than a dozen countries and regions such as Europe and Central Asia. The largest carpet is a 1250 kg carpet woven for the Xinjiang Hall of the Great Hall of the People by the Urumqi Carpet Factory in 1981. It is praised as the "King of Carpets". In 1966, a cotton blanket unearthed from Lanxi, Zhejiang Province, was 2.51 meters long and 1.18 meters wide. It was plain weave with flannel on both sides and was flat and thick. After identification, the material used is straw cotton fiber. This cotton carpet was woven in the Southern Song Dynasty. This is the earliest cotton blanket so far. Thus it can be seen that the carpet weaving technology has reached a very high level at that time.
