Select an appropriate cavity disc, select a good matrix, fill the matrix correctly, drill holes, evenly sow the seeds into the center of the cavity, cover the seeds evenly and water them appropriately. This completes the first step of industrialized hole tray seedling raising.
Selection of acupoint disc
The smaller the plug, the more sensitive the plug seedlings were to the changes of soil moisture, nutrients, oxygen, pH value and EC value. The deeper the hole, the more air in the matrix, which is conducive to ventilation, leaching salt and ventilation, and is conducive to the growth of roots. The substrate must be at least 5mm deep before gravity can act, so that the water in the substrate can infiltrate. The deeper the air enters the hole, the more oxygen content. The shape of the hole should be square inverted trapezoid, which is conducive to guiding the root system to extend downward, rather than winding the root system on the inner wall like in a circular or side vertical hole. The deeper holes provide more favorable conditions for the drainage and ventilation of the matrix.
Some trays also have ventilation holes between the holes so that air can flow between plants. Make the leaves dry, reduce diseases, dry evenly, and ensure the uniform growth of the whole plant.
The color of the socket also affects the temperature of the plant root. Generally, the black cavity plate is selected in winter and spring because it can absorb more solar energy and increase the root temperature. In summer or early autumn, it is necessary to change the silver gray hole plate to reflect more light and avoid excessive root temperature. The white disc generally has high light transmittance, which will affect root growth, so white disc is rarely selected. Of course, white foam plug can be an exception.
After thorough cleaning and disinfection, the cavity tray can also be reused. It is recommended to use a relatively safe quaternary ammonium salt disinfectant. It can also be used for sterilization and algae removal in the irrigation system to avoid the breeding of bacteria and moss. It is not recommended to disinfect with bleach or chlorine, because chlorine reacts with the plastic in the hole plate to produce toxic substances.
