Today, there are many things that need to be fixed with screws. When did the screw appear and how did it develop?
Today, as the editor of the winning screw, I will take you to understand the history of the screw.
The screw was not called a screw at first. It was called a spiral. After years of baptism, people have changed constantly according to their needs to become today's screws. Spirals were invented more than 2,000 years ago, but have been used for fixing things for less than 500 years.
The first person to describe the spiral was the Greek scientist Archimedes. A spiral is a huge spiral in a wooden cylinder that is used to lift water from one level to another and irrigate farmland.
Spirals were used to lift water throughout ancient society, and no one considered changing it to a fixed piece.
In the Middle Ages, carpenters used wooden or metal nails to connect furniture to wooden structures. Screws have become quite popular as fixing means. Because the screws are made by hand, the cost is naturally expensive and only used on special workpieces. However, by the end of the 18th century, some unknown genius had discovered a better manufacturing method, but still machined flat-end screws. This makes screws inexpensive to manufacture and can be used universally for fixing hinges, doors, furniture, and the like. The flat-end screw is the mechanism screw today. However, the effect of the fine-grained screw is reduced by the tapping, and it is necessary to screw it in with a tool with a longer tab. Around 1780, the manufacturer of assembly tools in London introduced screwdrivers with longer tabs. The trademark of this screwdriver is still called the "London". Around 1840 AD, Nettleford modified the wood screws and made them pointed. The screwdriver has been moving forward ever since. To today, self-tapping screws such as wallboard nails (drywall nails), round head screws, and quick-tap screws have appeared.
Screws are still evolving to this day.
