 Design & Installation 

Designing your System

There are three major elements to a PV power generation system. The PV Solar Panel, the Power Inverter, and the Control Equipment. With any design, it is a good idea to begin by studying the needs and environment, and then choosing a type and quantity of Solar Panel to install. once you have chosen an overall design and solar panel for your installation, choosing the remainder of the components is simplified.

NEP engineers and design specialists will be happy to work with you to help you design a solar power system featuring NEP micro inverters and technology. A few simple rules can be used when planning your system.

Power Generation with Micro Inverters

In any PV system an inverter that changes the PV panel power into usable electricity for your home or business is necessary. In a micro inverter based system, each panel features its own inverter, mounted behind the panel.

NEP micro inverters and RSDs are designed to work with a standard maximum size and output of panel. To determine the right Micro Inverter for your setup, consult the technical documentation for each inverter type. Typically:

  • BDM-250 and BDM-300 models are for single PV panels and smaller installations.
  • BDM-600 models are for double PV panels and larger installations.

Different sizes of NEP micro inverter can be combined in a single system depending on your needs. Some of our micro inverters are available in two formats for single-phase or higher-power multi-phase applications. The datasheet for each inverter can provide specific data on intent and performance.

Control Equipment

once you have selected your solar panels, designed your solar installation, and selected your micro inverters, it is necessary to select your control equipment. For NEP micro inverters, this means selecting a Gateway through which the micro inverters can be monitored and managed.

NEP Gateways are web enabled, connected devices that communicate with your solar micro inverters via PLC – Power Line Communication. Each micro inverter sends a signal along with the power it puts out that contains information about the micro inveter and solar panel, performance, and problems.

Select the appropriate gateway for your solar power system – either the single phase BDG-256or the three-phase BDG-256-P3. once set up, it will be convenient and easy to monitor your solar power system.

Installing your System

Every solar installation is different, but if you’ve done the proper planning, it should proceed simply. Simply follow the steps below to get your PV solar system operating:

Rooftop or Solar Installation

  • Install any framework or mounts to which your solar power system will be connected.
  • Connect NEP micro inverters to the frames.
  • For most inveters, grounding is integrated and there’s no need to do any special grounding.
  • Install the junction box and run cabling to connect the micro inverters to the junction box.
  • Cap any unused cable ends or cable t-junctions.
  • Install your solar PV panels and connect them to the micro inverters and RSDs.
