Cotton linters

 There are short fibers remaining on the cotton seeds (wool seeds) after ginning, and these short fibers are peeled off with a stripping machine, which is called cotton linters. Cotton linters are composed of three parts; the first part comes from the longer fibers of the "hairs"; the second part comes from the fibers on the wool seeds that are broken by the gin; the third part is a layer of short and natural growth on the epidermis of the cotton seeds.
