It is a colorless or almost colorless clear liquid; it has a pungent special odor, which can irritate the mucous membrane of the nose and throat, and has a burning taste. If stored in a cold place for a long time, paraformaldehyde will be precipitated and turbidity will occur. This product can be mixed arbitrarily with energy water or ethanol. This product is an aqueous solution of formaldehyde, containing formaldehyde (HCHO) not less than 36% (W/W).
