Introduction to Willow
Willow is a general term for a group of plants: dry willow, glandular willow, and weeping willow. Salix is mostly shrubs, sparse trees, without apical buds, symptomatic branches, fewer stamens, and insect-pollinated flowers, etc., which indicate that it has evolved more than Populus and Dianthus.
Plant characteristics:
Willow belongs to a wide ecological range of plants and has a wide adaptability to the environment. It is light-loving, humid-loving, and cold-tolerant. However, some species are also more drought-tolerant and salt-tolerant, and can grow in places with harsh ecological conditions, and grow better in fertile plains with superior site conditions. The general life span is 20-30 years, and a few species can reach more than a hundred years. The growth period of the year is long, with early germination and late leaf deciduousness. In the south, some are planted as evergreen trees.
Economic Value:
The bark contains tannins; the material is inferior to that of dry willow, and can be used as utensils and papermaking materials; catkins can be used to fill chair cushions and pillows; branches and fibrous roots can dispel wind and remove dampness. There is a cloud in the poem: Unintentionally inserting willows into the willows. It shows that the willow is very easy to survive. The fibers of the willow bark can be used as raw materials for textiles and ropes; the branches can be woven to carry baskets, lift baskets, wicker boxes and safety helmets. The wood is white and tough. It can be used as small farm tools, gadgets and charcoal burning.
Willow is light, easy to cut, does not deform after drying, and has no special smell. It can be used for construction, pit wood, box boards and matchsticks. The wood has high fiber content and is a raw material for paper and artificial cotton. Willow and willow branches are very good. Many kinds of wicker can be used for weaving baskets, boxes, hats, etc.; willow leaves can be used as fodder for sheep and horses; nectar plants; it is a beautiful ornamental tree species.
